Jennie Dobbs – Owner

Morris East was created by Jennie Dobbs. After six years of working in the Finance sector in the UK, Jennie decided to return to her hometown of Halifax to fulfill her dream of opening a restaurant. Since opening Morris East restaurant, Jennie has been nominated three times for the RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and is a 2012 finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award. She is currently also a Board Member for the Downtown Halifax Business Commission and the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia. Jennie is currently writing her first cookbook, à la mode, which features pies and tarts using the finest Nova Scotian ingredients.



Sandy Cooley – Chef

Chef Sandy Cooley grew up in Halifax.  Inspired by food, he attended Holland College where he graduated in 2005.  Sandy has worked coast to coast in great Canadian restaurants.  Watch Sandy make some of Morris East’s delicious menu items in an upcoming new episode of You Gotta Eat Here – click here to watch.


Amber MacLean – Manager

Amber brings her sunny personality to every table she oversees at Morris East.  Having a passion for food, she entered the Culinary Arts program at NSCC.  After a few years working in kitchens, she moved from the back to the front of the house.   Her service style at Morris East blends her passion for professional service, local ingredients, memorable wines and adorable personality.


Katrina Roberts – Wine & Beverage Director

Katrina’s love of libations shines in every drink she creates at Morris East. She takes great pleasure in not only designing unique and delicious cocktails but also in educating the Morris East staff.  Her cocktails have appeared in various publications including East Coast Living Magazine, The Coast and The Chronicle Herald.  She adores travelling to research her love of libations.
